As far as I am concerned, and many others, there is no reason to move to a Town that has Zoning.

I suggest this as a Referendum on the Free Town Project: Somebody ought to get a petition for a Warrant Article to enact Zoning at the next election. You pass it, we are not wanted and we stay away; you reject it, we take that as an invitation.

What "They" wioll do is tell you that Zoning won't make any difference, because ALL Lots will be Zoned General or Agricultural/Residential/Commercial. DO NOT BELIEVE THAT LIE! I have correspondence from a Unity Selectman that describes the horrors of even that minimal Zoning. Yes, "Non-Conforming" structures are "Grandfathered" in, but as soon as you want to put in a different shape of window, or add a room, you have to move your "Non-Conforming" house 8 more feet from the Highway or beg for a Variance! It has happened to Unity!!!!! You get a Zoning Board in there and you'll be asking permission to wipe your ass. You just watch.

it says "save grafton is all about saving grafton from pendarvis molesting under age donkeys"? I know it doesn't! Do you want that to be all that is on this site? Originally Pendarvis seemed like he had LOTS to do with the FTP, but it turns out he does not..because of his negative publicity. anyway, ftp and fsp are one in the same, no need to only focus on Pendarvis. I thought he was innocent, right?

The original content of the save grafton site was all about Larry's overturned conviction with the part about it being overturned being left out.

That was not the only content on the tripod website.

That was one link, and a quote from that link. That was the only info I had on that incedent at the time. I could not post information I did not have. As soon as I had more info, I posted that too. I addressed this issue over two months ago. see this post :

http://save-grafton.blogspot.com/2004/05/nobody-knows.html#commentsThe real question is:

Why are you so concerned I am not talking about Zack's past?

You are free to post the truth Jay.

I don't know the whole story. If you do, and you think it should be here, post away.

In the sniper post on the FSP forum we asked for any clairifying info. None was provided. Don't complain because I do not post info I do not have. If you want to provide it, post it. If you wish to keep it all a secret, well, shut up.

Have you noticed how I don't bring this issue up any more, but you FSP/FTP guys do? Get over it.

Like I have said before, at least I can ask Zack and Jay questions, and they will be honest(as far as I can tell). I may not like what they think, but at least they are willing to be honest about their opinions.

On the other hand, Mike Lorrey, Tim Condon, and Amanda Philips will lie to your face. They will say whatever they think you want to hear.

"I know more details about it that can me made public at this time. But I can tell you that with the information that I have been presented with, Larry appears to be innocent of the charges that have been discussed here."

Larry's accuser had possesion of "his" (actually his employer's) hard drive for TWO DAYS before it was presented to the local government persecution agency. I bet the file date stamps on those files have something to do with the persection not bothering to reopen the case all thse years.

I know when I surf for kiddie porn I use my work computer. Especially one without encrypted memory or network connections. That's what all IT pros would do even in the mid 1990's.

Yes, and that continues to be demonstratably true.

They're not lying Jay, they're just as full of shit as most politicians are.

Karl Biesel wrote a LAME editorial in the Monitor about how HORRIBLE Unity is for wanting to protect themselves from big land developers. He falied to mention he was an FSP member. Wonder why?? Here is a good editorial from the Nashua Telegraph today, mentioning Grafton and Unity

A wake-up call for N.H. towns without development laws

Published: Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004

KEY POINTS
BACKGROUND: A judge last week allowed the small northern town of Unity to develop an interim growth management ordinance while delaying a builder’s plan for 500 units of elderly housing until townspeople vote on the plan.
CONCLUSION: A number of small towns in northern New Hampshire have few land-use regulations, but as development creeps northward they should end their complacency.

A small town in northern New Hampshire is being shaken out of its complacency by a developer who wants to build 500 units of housing for older people. Other communities who shun development regulations should take note of what’s happening in Unity lest they have as rude a wake-up call.

Unity, with a population of some 1,500 residents, has few zoning regulations on its books and is now scrambling to enact comprehensive ordinances.

The small town south of Claremont got a reprieve last week when a Superior Court judge denied a developer’s petition to stop the town from going forward with a vote on its proposed interim growth management ordinance.

That ruling effectively halts the developer’s plan until voters can consider the proposed ordinance in a few months. The judge’s action also prevents other developers without approved plans from pursuing new subdivisions until Unity residents consider the growth management ordinance and other regulations.

Lack of adequate zoning and subdivision regulations is common in small towns in northern New Hampshire.

Recently, Grafton became attractive to the Free State movement because, in part, it has few development regulations.

Residents in these small northern communities historically felt protected against mass development because of their distance from the hot growth spots in the state. A well-honed sense of laissez faire and abhorrence of government red tape also contributed to the attitude that zoning is for somewhere else.

But with the southern New Hampshire landscape filling up fast, development is creeping northward. It’s time for small towns to push aside their complacency and enact measures for orderly growth because builders squeezed by land prices in the southern tier are attracted to their wide open spaces.

Planning boards in those towns should check out communities in the more developed sections of the state to determine what works and what doesn’t in terms of land use regulations.

And, as towns around here are finding out, if there is a parcel of land that’s important to the community and deserves preservation, make arrangements early to protect it before market forces make it impossible. Zoning alone can’t ensure that all scenic parcels are preserved.

Wilton and Lyndeborough are two of the latest communities in the Nashua region to contemplate purchases of land they deem essential to conserving their rural lifestyle.

Wilton’s Conservation Commission plans to seek a bond issue to purchase land or easements to protect choice open spaces.

In Lyndeborough, several residents interested in preserving some fields are organizing to save them.

New Hampshire welcomes growth, but with it comes a profound change in the landscape. Unity is learning that procrastination in the belief that isolation will shield it from development is no protection at all.

For builders of houses and other types of developers, small towns like Unity provide a business opportunity worth exploring.

It’s better to have a well-thought-out set of regulations on hand rather than having to scramble to enact some when the developers have arrived.
